pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
Dear Yulegoat! This year my likes and DNWs are:

Likes: fluffy, hurt/comfort with emphasis on comfort, humor (yes put in your worst dad jokes too I adore them), fix-it (details by fandom), adventures, slice-of-life, Enthusiastic Opt-In for any non-conventional storytelling modes (1st and 2nd person, epistolary, poetry, diary, IF, any experimental work), FANART!!!, any rating from G to E, NSFW, (I should make a NSFW likes list too. Oh well) Treats are very welcome!

DNW: grimdark, main character death (canonical death mentions OK but don't kill them on screen), on-screen torture (canon mention is fine but make it fade-to-black), gore, scat/piss, non-con, underage sex, omegaverse,

On to the requests!

Mortal Engines series: Any (Anna Fang, Hester Shaw, Shrike, Tom Natsworthy)

This series is YA and it definitely shows, but All The Potential! There's so much going on between the characters and so much left unsaid (and no one is Interesting after they're no longer teens, sigh) so let's fill in the gaps!
Hester/Tom is my OTP, and anything about them (missing scenes, them flying with Anna Fang, yes even First Time, or second, or zillionth when they're older in Anchorage) is very welcome! But one of the relationships I'm most interested in is that of Shrike and Hester's. What if she had skipped the main plotline and stayed with Shrike? How would their relationship have developed? What if Shrike had gotten what he wanted and had her made a Stalker? (Was their relationship strictly familial, or was there something romantic or sexual involved? Go wild.) Or, if you wish, tell me about Shrike before he became Shrike, or after the series ended.
Also Anna's Stalker form with its two-way personalities is interesting. Explore at will. Also please include any and all of other characters in the series, I only had space for four! Valentine, Pennyroyal, Oenone Zero, Wren and Theo... I could have nommed practically everyone, but went with these four. Just don't treat them like anyone over thirty is either Dull and Boring or A Bad Guy.

Shadows of the Apt series: Any (Seda, Straessa, Cheerwell Maker, Tynisa)

...Okay, apparently all my book noms are long-as-all-fuck-series. Anyways. The worldbuilding is immaculate, the insect-kinden thing is interesting, I'm definitely disappointed the not-sea-kinden are less like the insects they associate with (feel free to fix this!) and I would have nommed a LEGION of characters had I had the space. Also I haven't yet read the whole series through (I'm at the end of War Master's Gate), but I will have done so by December, so any details happening in the last book aren't in the requests, but presume I know about them by reveals. Anyways.
Che is just lovely, and her relationship with Tynisa both before and after she became Inapt is interesting. How did she adjust herself to her sudden Inaptitude? How did she end up with her uncle to start with? What was it like to grow up in Collegium, as the niece of Stenwold Maker? More about her relationship with Achaeos? Any what-ifs and alt-universes and whatever is free real estate! Just. Don't make her go with Totho. They're my NOTP. Sorry, Totho. (If you want to put her together with Tynisa, though...)
Also Tynisa! What was it like to grow up in a family and a city where most people are presumed to be Apt? What is it like to be the Special One in your family and then have your ordinary-as-heck-sister demonstrate even greater powers? Her relationship with Tisamon? Her relationship with being a Weaponsmaster while being half-Spider? Her relationship with her scarring? (If she dies in the last book, no she didn't.) I love sibling dynamics, with or without incesty vibes, which in this case aren't biological at all.
Seda is another interesting character. We get glimpses of her before she becomes Inapt by Mosquito magic, which is an interesting plot point by itself, so feel free to explore either her abused past or her possible Apt/Inapt future. (If she dies in the last book, no she didn't.) Any what-ifs welcome. I can understand wanting power by means of surviving, and growing up in a culture where even pureblood women have very little say in their own lives is incentive enough, but how much of her power-greediness stemmed from that and how much from Uctebri's ministrations? What if she had been one of the throwback Inapt Wasps to start with? Would it even be possible to sway her into the Collegium lifestyle? What in it irks her and the Wasps so much?
And speaking of your traditional Strong Female Characters, I like Straessa. Her exceptional Antspider background (I see what you did there, Tchaikovsky, antspiders are a real thing but in the context of this story half-Ant half-Spider is... interesting) begs for a story. Who and how? Or is she a real Antspider-kinden, like the Assassin bugs? Also her and Eujen, of whom I have a Bad Feeling about, deserve each other, they're cute. Any student shenanigans are also welcome.
I don't even know what I want from this fandom, except MORE. Make me a portrait of everyone, or a series of slices-of-life, or a missing scene, or a bit of worldbuilding. Anything is welcome.

The Victorian Way: Any (Mrs Crocombe, Mary Ann, The Viewer)

I put in The Viewer, because I want to know more about the person they're supposed to be. The delightful Mrs Crocombe treats them like a familiar visitor, maybe a niece or an acquaintance, sharing gossip and recipes and tea (and probably a piece of whatever she's making that isn't going upstairs), and while the series is all about the recipes, the ordinary life of a lower-class Victorian just comes through (as intended). This is your chance to throw in all the details you know about the era, if you're so inclined! Not expecting anything that isn't in the series, but I love infodumping and needlessly detailed fics.
Also the relationship between Mrs Crocombe and Mary Ann is interesting as it develops throughout the series. What does Mary Ann think of all the menial chores she's made to do? Does she see them as necessary steps on her way to being a cook herself one day? Also I'm thinking of that one episode where she got to ram in with the huge skewer for the roast... She sure had fun there!
Sooooo let's pretend we're in the era and they're not actors, ok? Give me anything about them, a slice of life along with the pie, some more gossip over tea, and feel free to bring in any other character from the series that I didn't nom because I had limited internet at the time and couldn't check.

You Can Call Me Al (Al, Betty, Bat-faced Girl)

Yes, we all know what the lyrics really mean. But let's take them at face value. We have Al, walking down the street in a Third World country, pondering his mid-life crisis, longing for his wife and family. Is Betty really his wife, or a hired bodyguard? What happened with the roly-poly little bat-faced girl? Was she a prostitute or a vampire or just a little girl who wanted to help a funny stranger? Go wild with this, put Al in a different planet or an alien civilization if you want, or make him an agent on a mission and the Bonedigger and Mr Beerbelly are a code, or whatever!

Time Team: Any (Helen, Mick, Phil, Tony)

I have wished for Time Team before, the letters are all here, I just want more of them. Give me a behind-the-scenes, a new real or imaginary dig (crossovers welcome and encouraged, even if I didn't know the other fandom), I just want them in more digs, being themselves. Or you can give me a missing scene, or a behind-the-scenes, or whatever your heart desires. I'll never get bored of them.

Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death: Any (The Doctor, Emma, The Master)

All the Doctor Who-y silliness! All the Rowan Atkinson silliness! All the Master silliness! All the silliness! So much clever storytelling gags in so little time! But I want to know what happened in the sewers during the years the Master were there and all the explanations and stuff! If the Doctor hadn'tscrewed up, which of his incarnations would have married the assistant? (also the lady Doctor was pretty hot, so yeah).
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
Dear Yulegoat, this year I (pikkugen) would love to get:

Something warm and fluffy never goes amiss. I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort, There Was Only One Bed, slice-of-life, worldbuilding and humor. Any rating from G to E, but mind the DNWs. Something experimental is exciting to get, any art in any form is welcomed warmly and Very Much Appreciated, but most of all whatever you want to create is Perfect. Open to treats.

DNW: graphic depictions of torture, main character death, piss/scat/vomit in sexual context, omegaverse, non-con.

On to the Special Requests!

The Cybernetic Tea Shop - Meredith Katz

I loved this little book, its sense-of-wonder set in far future (but not so far and not so futuristic that it'd be completely unrecognizable). Sal the robot is a darling in a world of hate and misunderstanding, and I love how she just wants to work in the tea shop despite anything. Clara is a fascinating person, and I totally see why she is intrigued by Sal and how her interest grows into something more. I'd love to see them interact in any setting, maybe in the story's future, or any in-between scene you'd like to experiment. I like the fact that they're both statedly asexual, but if you want to let them explore the physical side too (in any iteration! I'm not picky!) please do so. Or you could explore more of Karinne's and Sal's relationship while Karinne was still alive. What was the world like back then? Also, Terry the mechanic was very understated character who I'd like to know more, if you don't go the soppy romance way. Any art of them and the tea shop would be lovely! Tea shops are one of my favorite places ever, especially for writing.

They See What We Do Not See - Otto Mäkilä (https://www.ts.fi/static/content/pic_5_208910_k208911_1200.jpg)

This painting has vexed me since I first saw it. Who are they? What do they see (that we don't)? What's with THEIR SHADOWS? Why are they holding a tape measure? Give them a backstory, or tragedies, or romances, or a vista, or a profession, or whatever! Show me what they see! (I love symbolism in art, and the colours here Must Mean Something.) Worldbuilding? Yes please. Threesome? OH YES. Art of the scenery that We Do Not See? PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU. This painting itches my brain in all the ways.

Onfim of Novgorod - 13th Century Russia RPF

Little Onfim and his homework and margin scribbles! He's one of the characters we know only from these scraps of birchbark, such ephemeral evidence, and they're just like any boy's fridge drawings. Please tell me more of Onfim and his friend Danilo, and their poor teacher who had to try to guide them to the intricacies of writing while the boys clearly were boys and thought little of anything. What did they become when they grew up? Tell me what legend or folktale or his own imagination conjured the knights and monsters Onfim drew? Or draw me another in the same spirit if you wish! The people have always been people, and children will always be children, no matter what the time and culture. What would Onfim think if he knew his childhood scribbles are precious archaeological evidence of his existence?

Matthew Shardlake series - C. J. Sansom

I found these books earlier this year, and although I still haven't read them all (please no spoilers past Revelation Heartstone Lamentation, I don't have the next book... yet) I want to request my favorite character, Guy Malton. His unlikely friendship with Matthew, his relationship with him (I'm equally ok with &/, whichever way you want to sway) and his past in the monastery and whatever before that... also Sansom describes very well the effects and cures of scoliosis at that time, and also the stigma that physically different people suffered at that time and place. Matthew is also an interesting character, his intellect and experience in law and his religious journey from passionate Reformist to somewhat disillusioned whatever-it-is is fascinating. I love their interaction, whether it's over the cause of death of some poor individual or Matthew's back (and Guy's gentle scolding of him not taking care of himself), and there Just Isn't Enough of it in my world. (Also I'm Totally Not Admitting to any kind of kink over descriptions of backs and/or hands, cough.) Also Sansom's grasp of the Tudor age London is fascinating, so if you have ever wanted to pour all your knowledge of the era on some hapless individual, consider me a suitable victim. ;)

All in all, have fun, enjoy the process, I'll be happy with anything you come up with, thank you, you win the Yuletide, and may your plot bunnies be plentiful and your bears scarce!
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
Kitties! All the kitties! Sooo, what I'd love to read/see:

Neko Atsume: I asked for any, and I mean any. Also any cats I didn't nom, because that's the nature of the game. If Tubbs wanders into the fic/art and eats everything, I'm completely fine with it! But what I thought when I decided what to nominate was something along these lines:

What exactly is Whiteshadow's ninja thing? Is he really doing espionage and and scouting, and if yes, for whom? What does his report look like? Or give me a day of appearing and hiding on several yards with catlike shenanigans happening! (Any crossover you like is fine.) Art in any setting much appreciated!
Sassy Fran in her cat café - what are the things she sees, does she help other cats, or maybe people too if you consider her a cat person instead of a dress-up cat? Any café AU is fine for this, if you want.
Hermeowne and her cat-calling potion (It calls in other cats! It's a cat-calling potion! You cannot change my mind on this.) What, how, why, any shenanigans?
Also, what's the deal with Sapphire and Jeeves? There's Pining, or there's Something Sinister? Your choice!

They're all anthropomorphic cats, but I don't mind whether you make them just Special Cats In A Cat World or just ordinary cats or actual cat people, since the game is pretty ambiguous about them.

Red Dwarf: The Cat. Wacky character. Any shenanigans! Does he get turned into a real cat of his genetic past, does he cross over somewhere else and surprise everyone by being, well, a cat, or do something Very Catlike in front of everyone to everyone else's embarrassment, or just makes a Totally Meant To Do That -disaster? (Yes, crossovers welcome.) Also NSFW welcome, but mind the DNWs.

Discworld: In addition to any and all canonical cats, the Vetinari and/or Vimes as cats tickled me. What if Vetinari was a (big) cat for some reason and no one noticed or cared? How would he and Vimes interact as cats? Would they still have the awkward enmity-slash-appreciation-slash-respect, or would they just skip the foreplay and go straight to business?

CCoC: I just. love cats. Go wild. Long Cat was one of my favorite memes from the Internet Before Time, and most memetic cats are just adorable. This is your free card, give me cats (and their stories) that you have always wanted to give! (Mind the DNWs.)

DNW: cat death on screen (canon death mention ok), no injury to cat, no omegaverse, no watersports/scat in sexual context, no bestiality (if a human is having sex with an animal-shaped cat of any size, I want to be Very Sure that the cat knows what it's doing and passes the Harkness test!), no non-con or dub-con.
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
Dear Yuletide Writer, this year I wish:

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Stephen R. Donaldson

I put in Mhoram and Saltheart Foamfollower, but feel free to treat this as Any. I love the Land (and only now realized that I should have nommed Worldbuilding, oops) and especially these two characters, so anything you want to tell me about them or their adventures with or without Covenant will be joy to the eyes that read. I have some old prompts for them in older letters, if you want to peruse them, but suffice to say I will read literally anything and rejoice. I had a Huge Crush on both Mhoram and Saltheart while reading for the first time, they're such lovely and nuanced characters, and Mhoram's endless patience and dynamism and Saltheart's vast compassion and joy tinged with longing just... *chef's kiss* hit me where it matters. If you want a more specific prompt, how about something of them after Covenant has returned home for the first time and they work to rebuild the legacy of Lords? Or something about Saltheart's adventures before he met Covenant? How did Mhoram become a Lord, yes he was the son of two, but it wasn't hereditary iirc? Also art is welcome, if you'd like to create any. The environments are lovely, especially Andelain and Revelstone and Coercri, if you don't feel like drawing Endless Ranyhyn Running or Mhoram's smile.

The Garden of Earthly Delights - Hieronymus Bosch

One of my favorite arts ever! I could ramble about the weird little critters all over and the vaguely sexual undertones happening everywhere (except the Paradise, of course) and the sheer fantasticity of it all (totally a word, shush) but I really don't have any specific prompts ready-made for this. Surprise me. Who are the merpeople? Why do they do whatever it is that they do? Flying on fish? Carrying huge berries? Doing acrobatics in a pile of naked humans? (yeah yeah, a sexual metaphor, we get it.) What do they look like under the armor, and are all the armored ones male? Why do they float on water? Or, if you want to go that way, some Hot Mermaid Sex with humans, go wild. I love all mermaid art, by the way, so any recreations of them are more than welcome. (My tumblr may be a quarter full of mermaid pictures, especially the monstrous ones, so... I may have a type.) Consider this as much a worldbuilding prompt as an Any prompt.

Gaea series - John Varley

The world is incredible, and the books only touch the variety of adventures to be had there. Give me a story or some art that wasn't in the books, about the building of the highway, about climbing the spoke, about a Titanide feast, about some tender moments between Cirocco and Gaby, of Gaea in her youth or at least before she went completely insane, or anything else you might want to create! I'll eat it up with a spoon.

Historical Farm (UK TV)

I just love the idea of this series, and even if I know they didn't Actually spend the Whole Year working in the farm, I'd love to imagine that they did. An AU of creator's choice, perhaps? Pick any era, any country, any world. How do they grow the Westerosi ice grapes? Or how do they make tubby toast and raise rabbits in Teletubbies' land? What would an asteroid farm look like? Otherwise just a day in the life on any of their farms is fine. I ship them (threesomes are best!) but you don't have to, but if you'd like to take the romantic option I like pining, hurt/comfort, tired-but-happy moments, funny moments, and just general interaction between the three.

Seraphina Series - Rachel Hartman

I love the interaction between Seraphina and Orma, especially when they're both being very dragon-ish. She is trying to balance between her human and her dragon sides, and he is so purely a dragon that it makes a fascinating read. How about more about her childhood when her uncle was her only contact to that side of her heritage? Otherwise anything you want to create! I really love the world and the fact it's situated in the southern hemisphere. I know I have requested this before, so the tag "yuletide letter" should bring out more prompts.

All in all, I love me a good worldbuilding, fluff, humor, adventures, pining (where applicable), hurt/comfort (where applicable), characters being their most selves, threesomes (where applicable), am comfortable with any rating from G to E, just go lightly with violence, canon-typical is usually fine. Art and treats are very welcome. Have fun!
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
First of all, thanks for participating! You're amazing! I'll read anything from G to E, just please no unnecessary graphic violence (necessary violence accepted in the name of worldbuilding, for example mentions of animal slaughter are fine, graphic details... not so much.) Then to the Speshul Requests (optional):

Seraphina (Seraphina, Lucian Kiggs, Princess Glisselda, Orma):

I'm very fond of my OT3, and how they managed to slip the whole affair through every hoop to look Respectable. I'd like something intimate about them, something when they're in private, being a family. Their dynamic is exquisite and I'd love to see how they make it work. (Not necessarily sex, although I'm not averse to it - the relationships are so much more than just that!) Otherwise I'd love to see more about Orma and Seraphina. Maybe more about her childhood when her uncle was her only contact to that side of her heritage? Music? Seraphina reads as autistic-coded to me, but Orma takes it to draconic (heh) measures, and it's lovely to see her balance between the very human intuitions and emotions and the stranger draconic ones. (You don't need to put them all into the same story, if that doesn't work timeline-wise.) Go wild and explore the world and its wonders, if you want - I'll read anything from this fandom.

Historical farm (Alex Langlands, Ruth Goodman, Peter Ginn):

This was my last year's savior, I watched every part on Youtube and fell in love with the concept. I may ship the three a little (A Lot), but I don't expect you to. Give me details of their daily life in the farm, something that was cut from the series, or let's pretend they're actually really living in whatever period they're reenacting, hmmm? Or put them into any historical setting you feel comfortable writing! (I'm expecting the historical accuracy of your average romance novels, if you go that way, so don't worry about detail. Or if you know EVERYTHING about, idk, rice cultivation in 19th century India, go wild and flood me with the particulars!) Or put them into a fantasy setting! How do they raise the rabbits and flowers in the Teletubbies land and make tubby custard?

Time Team (Any):

My this year's savior! What do they dig up next, and where? They have only three days, can they decipher the Tombs of Atuan? Certainly not the ruins of Gormenghast? How about the castle of the Sleeping Beauty? (What if she never woke up... until now?) What if one of the roundhouse-slash-crop circles was an actual fairy ring? I know about archaeology about as much as I've learned from the series, so feel free to hand-wave the actual thing, or not. I'm fine either way. Any period or random fandom is fine, if I don't know it yet, I'll take it as a recommendation. This is the only fandom where I definitely Do Not want any shipfic, except maybe Phil/flint-knapping... Or if you don't want to transport them far away, tell me what had to happen that Tony stopped jumping into people's trenches without permission. Or give me a snippet of silliness that was cut off for some obscure reason? (Also Time Team is a team, so if I didn't request your favorite members, put them in anyways and I'll be happy.)

All in all, no A/B/O dynamics, no unnecessary violence, yes adventures, humor, fluff and/or pining where applicable, have fun, thanks in advance, all my former letters are here too (tagged yuletide letter), feel free to browse them for additional ideas.
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
First of all, thank you for participating! You are awesome! In short, I prefer fluffy to angsty (unless specifically requested otherwise, also I love ALL! THE! PINING! and hurt/comfort), am comfortable with any kind of rating, and appreciate humor and good worldbuilding, but I'm really OK with anything! Absolute DNWs are A/B/O and explicit gore, also please no unnecessary cruelty towards animals or children. (Necessary cruelty goes with the worldbuilding. Meaning mentioning animal slaughter or illness is fine, gory details... not so much.)

Specific Wishes Are Specific:

Historical Farm

A new episode in my favorite OT3:s adventures in farming? Pick your favourite time and/or place in history, from Neolithic slash-and-burn to Viking conquest era to far future. Maybe they get a Tardis and go peek at some of the farms and eras they've covered? Or move to British Empire India to cultivate rice? Or maybe their time doubles from a few centuries in the future decide to make a 2020 Farm? (I'm expecting them to stay indoors and do All The Crafts. And banana bread. And start a balcony farm.) What would an Asteroid Habitat Farm look like? An alien world farm? Fantasy farm? Otherwise a snippet of life from any of the existing series (What got censored, and why?) would be nice.

They're my OT3, but I'm equally happy with & and /. Ruth is my favorite, so her point of view would be most appreciated, but I love the boys just as dearly.

The Nargun and the Stars

I think this was the book that made me aware of the rich lore of the Australian Aboriginal cultures. How did Charlie and Edie find Potkoorok when they were kids? Any adventures they had together? What made them stay together in the farm instead of going away or, say, marrying, was there any involvement by the original spirits? Or else, what became of the Nargun inside the mountain, did it ever get away and if so, what kind of world did it meet? Also in my head Simon, Edie and Charlie are at least partly Aboriginals, can't remember if the book said anything about it, so if it fits your story and you feel like transporting the plot that way, please do! Not in any way necessary, though, if you're like me and have never been in Australia or done any deeper research on the matter.

Emily of the New Moon

I asked for Emily and Ilse, but feel free to drop in the boys too. I'd love an adventure from their childhood, or youth, or young adulthood, or even after their prospective marriages (if that happened in your story - I'm okay with them ending up together too!) Something light-hearted and characteristic (and funny, you can't avoid funny with Ilse!) or something a bit darker and gloomier - think Emily's second sight or Ilse's temper. As long as it ends well, I'm fine! I love the eerie spookiness of old houses and unsolved mysteries that Emily often bumps into, and the beauty of her vision of nature, and Ilse's level-headed rashness (if there be such a thing) and joie de vivre. (Also Let! Ilse! Swear!) I think I've wished for Emily before, here's a link to my former letter if you want some other ideas: https://pikkugen.dreamwidth.org/144669.html
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
I've been Very Good this year, and here's my wish list!

Dinner For One:
My long-time favorite thing to watch on the New Year's Eve, with all its comedic turns and the characters who manage to convey a full party all by themselves. I'd love to meet the four guests as they were when Sophie knew them. How faithful is James's portrayal of them? Was any of them her lover before, well, James took their place? Who died first, and whose idea was it that James should pick his glass and perform the full toasting? I'd love to see them in their late middling years or older, when they have known each other for decades and have no use for the decorum of the society (except for the table manners, obviously.) And why was it that Sophie never married anyone? (Also why does James always knock the tiger pelt, is it an old one or perhaps a new acquisition?)

The Lair of the White Worm:
I saw this earlier this year and laughed myself silly. Sure, it's a Grave And Perilous Tale of a Terrible White Worm terrorizing a poor village, but the characters are hilariously 80's. So what happened to poor Angus after he was bitten, did he turn into a worm or perhaps a priest without a god creature to worship? (Did he begin a cult of Bagpipes? I ship him and the bagpipes.) How did Sylvia begin her career as the Snake Priestess? Did James and Eve have to confront their old friend again? Any shenanigans welcome, especially if the bagpipes are included.

Jeeves:
Someone trying to marry off old Bertie again? He has another hideous sartorial item that Jeeves hates? Is there a sudden invasion of flesh-eating flowers in Madeline's greenhouses, or an attack of zombie horses in Honoria's stables? Or perhaps Jeeves has Had It at last and leaves poor Bertie in a pickle... only to regret and return in time to save his skin from the fighting ladies? I ship Jeeves and Wooster and would love to see something happen, but if you don't it's not necessary. I love Wodehouse's style, so any attempt thereof is greatly appreciated.

Generally anything funny, fluffy, witty, scary, whatever you like to write, just don't use overt violence, A/B/O dynamics, or over-the-top bullying/torture, and we're fine. Have fun, it always shows in the writing. On this blog there should be some old Yuletide letters if you want to check, I tend to wish same kinds of things Every Year. Thank you!
pikkugen: Lúthien (books)
I haven't done one in ages, but this year there were too many good fics not to spread their wonderfulness around. I'd like to start with MY GIFT THAT WAS PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL AND AAAAAAAAA ahem yes it was good.

Memories of Unreal Things, William Laurence/Tenzing Tharkay Naomi Novik's Temeraire is a great series, and I love the main characters to bits (and also many of the other characters). This fic managed to wrap up everything of the characters I love so much, managed to fix the irritating memory loss trope That Should Have Been Better Or Not There At All with another cliché trope (yes, yes, I suggested it, and I hate the Healing Cock trope, but in this case the two negatives really did come out positive). Every character's voice is perfect and the pivotal Temeraire line so innocent and to the point. (Also, for someone who drooled at Tharkay throughout the books, the descriptions of him are To The Point.) 20/10, will read again, and if you value your soft romance at all you'll do the same.

A Conspiracy of Marriages, William Laurence/Tenzing Tharkay Another Temeraire fic, more general and on the political side of it, aka how Temeraire managed to single-handedly rewrite the marriage laws into more tolerable direction - without anyone noticing. Hilarious, very political (in the best sense of the word), also very much in character, and full of sparky little pokes towards even the current events in many countries.

The Short of It, Sakeru Gum commercials and The Long (Long) of It, Chi/Long Long Man/Tooru The Sakeru Gum commercials have been somewhat of a favourite of mine, what with their unconventional take on Certain Stereotypes, but these fics explore the end-after-the-end of the commercials series, and it's needful that you read them both. And the notes. The baseline is a happy threesome, but the realization is... beautiful. Knowledge of the commercials is needed to really appreciate these fics, but they're easily found on Youtube. Here it's more of a form before content, but such form!

Fixing A Flat, Hilda the Plus-Sized Pinup I love the old pin-up images of Hilda, the red-haired plump girl doing everything and anything, usually in her floursack bikinis or just a flower wreath, and this fic was a beautiful extension of them, showing Hilda as a kind, competent, happy and confident helper of other women. A feelgood fic among the best ones, and from a very small fandom indeed!

C'est déjà gémir, Jeeves, Jeeves and Wooster fic that for once does not concentrate on them! As funny and slapstick and run-on as the originals, and the set of "incidental" tags in the work should tell you all about the content. (The "Incidental Lesbians, Harold" one made me laugh aloud...) The bumbling, bubbling Wooster, the sharp, clever Jeeves, and the cavalcade of well-formed stereotypes that still have more flesh on them than your average book sidenote make a perfect Yuletide fun story. Warning: Do not consume anything during reading, oral or even nasal spillage imminent.

I know there are more stories I read and vowed to rec, but right now I just want to get these off my chest. More might come, if I feel inclined.
pikkugen: Lúthien (Default)
This Yuletide I'd like to receive:

Anything soft, fluffy, happy, adventurous, exciting, romantic, funny and/or everything mentioned! Specific things listed under fandoms. I'm okay with all ratings and will welcome both general fluff and explicit sex.

For Kirikou and the Sorceress, I requested all characters, but what I'd like to know more about, is, ah well, not so soft and fluffy as I said before.

Karaba had a poisonous thorn put in her back (a rape analogy, anyone?) but exactly how did she transform the men of the village into fetishes? Is there a specific difference between the candlestick men and the moving watchmen, about what they did or didn't do to her? What about the watchman on the roof? Why didn't Kirikou's uncle go to Karaba (my headcanon: he's gay and/or asexual) and will he ever find happiness? How about Kirikou and Karaba, will the village accept them and her redemption? Also anything from their village or world is welcome. Run wild, I'll read!

For Deverry cycle, I requested Jill, Rhodry and Cullen and of course Nevyn. But what I'd really like to know is, how is life between lives on the other side? Nevyn hasn't seen the halls of Bel for a long, long time, how does it make him feel when he finally dies? What kind of decisions do they make in-between? Or basically anything about them. I haven't yet read the whole Deverry series (I'm halfway through Dragonspell A Time of Exile right now, so you can expect I've read most of them by Christmas), but I don't really mind spoilers, so hit me with anything.

For Temeraire, I requested Tharkay and Lawrence. There's that specific moment in Blood of Tyrants, that Should Have Been Different. YOU KNOW THE BIT. Blah blah memory loss blah blah healing cock blah blah THE BEST/WORST OF FANFIC CLICHÉS COUNTERACT EACH OTHER so I ship them so what. If you want to write over the whole memory loss, that's excellent, too!
Something soft and warm in a cold hard world, hmmm? Also I love Temeraire, so anything he can do for him/them, helpful or hindering (accidental cockblocking?) would be just beautiful. Doesn't have to be that specific moment, anything between the three is fine.

So have fun, run wild, I'll read anything! Absolute no-nos are explicit violence, gore, and A/B/O dynamics. My other Yuletide posts should be found here too, if you need additional information on my preferences.

I've been very nice this year, believe it or not, and here are my wishes for this Yuletide!

Uprooted - Naomi Novik

I asked for Agnieszka, Kasia, Queen Hanna and the Wood-queen. Please give me the sweet lesbian romance that was hinted at for the whole book! I have nothing against Sarkan, but gimme the girls. I don't care if it's during their youth or after the main story, just. gimme. Also what's the deal with Queen Hanna and the Wood-queen? How did Hanna's and Kasia's transformations happen and what was the point, other than luring more victims to the forest? Cookies for more beautifully haunting forest scenery porn and hedge-witchery.

Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse

Any silliness between our favourite gentleman and his manservant, including Aunt Agatha's plotting and Jeeves's thwarting of said plots! Bonus cookies for hideous sartorial items and any random characters you care to drop in. (I love Wodehouse's language, just FYI, and I'd welcome any other person's point of view too, since we don't get much of those.)

Emily of the New Moon

How about an AU where she chose the Japanese prince? Could be a modern one, could be a period one, could be (dammit I promised I'd never say it aloud) an anime one... That particular case in Emily's romantic history was so short, hauntingly beautiful, and quite titillating. Culture shock? Relatives on his side? Yes please!

Otherwise I love all kinds of fics. I'm not a fan of over-the-top violence or gore, and A/B/O-dynamics are a squick of mine, so none of that, please. I like humor, plotting, worldbuilding, character-driven stories and fluff, and I'm really pretty easy. I'm not opposed to neither mature themes nor G-rated fics, so anything you feel comfortable with is fine for me. Have fun, and thanks for participating! You win the Yuletide!

I've been very nice this year, so here's my List of Wishes for Yuletide:

Munchkin Cthulhu (Board Game)

I asked for Inspector, Cultist, Tht Whch Hs N Vwls and Lloyd Lloigor. My favourite pairing, the main Inspector and the main Cultist! I don't mind if you make them lovers, brothers, alienated friends or sworn enemies, just make them adventure through the madness that is Munchkin Cthulhu. I listed two of my dearly beloved monsters, but feel free to drop in some Goths or Cowthulhus or whatever. And make good use of all the fantastic items in the game! Fun (and not so fun) for all, and I'll be happy. (I've asked for this same treat some years ago, the post should still be here: http://pikku-gen.livejournal.com/144829.html#cutid1)

Azur et Asmar (2006)

The most beautiful children's movie in quite a while, and I love all the characters! Azur and Asmar should have had more adventures together. (I may ship them a little bit, but if that isn't your piece of cake, I'll take friendship and brothers fic any time.) I've asked for them also here: http://pikku-gen.livejournal.com/144109.html if you want something more specific.

The 13½ lives of Captain Bluebear

I love this book, the silly characters, the crazy world, the weird words and concepts. I had an idea ages ago about these three characters (here: http://pikku-gen.livejournal.com/144109.html), but anything you can cook up will be fine. Put in some crazy stories and funny accidents, and I'm a happy reader.

Some general guidelines: I love humor, fluff, adventures, world-building, don't mind mature themes (but I don't know if I managed to wish anything that would really merit the M rating, oops) but generic is just fine too. Have fun writing! I'll surely have fun reading.

pikkugen: Lúthien (Pink clouds)

Dark Is Rising Sequence - Susan Cooper

I asked for Jane, Greenwitch and Tethys. I loved the dream sequence where Jane talks to the Greenwitch, so more of the same (at a later time?) would be fine. Maybe the Witch remembers her for a long time and returns to her every now and then, or maybe Jane returns to Cornwall to make a new Witch sometime later? Also, persuading Tethys to let the Witch out of the sea deeps must not be easy for any of them...

Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse

Anything! I love anything where Bertie gets into (lady) trouble and Jeeves pulls him out by the ear. Literally or figuratively. Also anything horrible that Bertie wears and Jeeves wants to throw away is a bonus. I totally ship them together but don't feel obliged to write any romance unless you feel like it (please do, if you want, though).

Krabat | The Satanic Mill - Otfried Preußler

So wonderful to have this here! I love the story, the Master, Krabat and Tonda, and the kantorka, of course. Tell me something they did during their years in the mill, or what happened afterwards.

I prefer fluffy to angsty, or at least a happy ending if the story is scary or sad, with some humor if it fits the story, and good storytelling. I'm really happy with anything, so have fun, dear writer! If you have a story to tell, I'll read it.
pikkugen: Lúthien (xmas-sonic)
This Yuletide I'd like to get:

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - Stephen R. Donaldson

This is something of a guilty pleasure for me. I don't like the protagonist, but I'd love to hear more about the Land and its inhabitants. Especially Lord Mhoram. In the Illearth War, he totally has an unrequited crush on Covenant (It's there! If you squint! Hard! XD ) and although I definitely do not want anything else than unrequited (oh well, if the pairing rocks your shippings, go on and write some) I'd like to see some of his softer side, considering how he turns into something fierce by the end of the book.

Otherwise I'd like to hear more of my favourite character in the whole series, Saltheart Foamfollower. I love Giants and their eternal search for their homeland, and their end on the Land made me cry. So, Giants, on a happier time or place, a song, a story, something about Coercri or Seareach... anything.

I also put Hile Troy in, so if you prefer to tell me something of him, preferably of his origins or his job before he came to the Land, or possibly how he was erased from the records back there all secret-agent-like, please do!

Gianna Nannini: Bello e impossibile, music video

Dieselpunk, Mad Max style! I don't know how they decided to make this kind of video for a love song, but I don't mind. Run wild with this. The song doesn't need to feature, but tell me the story of all the strange people in this weird world. Cookie points for the 80's style and aesthetics. (Sorry! I was an impressionable kid back then.)

The Odyssey - Homer

I requested Penelope, Nausicaa, Circe and Calypso. What would happen if all these ladies got together and did something that didn't involve any of the male characters of the poem? Whether it was a crossover into a modern/less old/altogether different world or (totally a metric ton of cookie points) in their own time and world, just pass the Bechdel test and make them epic on their own.

Oh, and feel free to include Jenny Everywhere anywhere. I love the idea of an open-source character. ;)

In other words, anything you're comfortable with. I'm pretty happy with anything, from gen to slash, just not overtly violent relationships or abuse of any kind. I generally prefer fluffy to angsty, but then I requested for Mhoram-angst, so I guess I'll handle anything else, too. X) So. Go forth, have fun. I'm really very easy. *offers cookies* And you'll find my former Yuletide letters here, too, if you want to take a peek on what I've requested before.
pikkugen: Lúthien (xmas-sonic)
First of all, let me thank you for offering any of my fandoms! I'm really very easy to please, so don't worry.

Munchkin Cthulhu )

Seaward )

Farseer trilogy )

Jurassic Park )

And some general lines: I'm flexible as to what I want to read. Usually I prefer fluffy to angsty and I like well-defined plots, but whatever is easy to you. I'm comfortable with any rating and neither mind nor demand explicit sex scenes. My squicks include explicit violence, especially towards the defenceless, non-con sex, and bullying, and although I've been known to read and like stories including these, I'd prefer not having them for my Yuletide. Run wild with the characters, have fun with the story, add a splash of (bad) humour, and you have me. Even more cookie points for passing the Bechdel Test and/or the Mako Mori test (The Mako Mori test is passed if the movie/fic has: a) at least one female character; b) who gets her own narrative arc; c) that is not about supporting a man’s story. http://chaila.tumblr.com/post/58379322134/spider-xan-also-i-was-thinking-more-about-why) But don't worry if you can't, because of the characters I've chosen. This is supposed to be fun for everyone, right? Go have some, and have my thanks. ;)
pikkugen: Lúthien (procrastinate!)
Here's my wishlist for this wonderful Yuletide!

Topics under here! )

In other words, dear Yuletide writer, I'll take whatever you can write and I'll wuv it and read it again and again and again and... you get the drift. Just be true to the characters, build some world... and have fun. I love me a good world-building.
pikkugen: Lúthien (Something completely different)
Here's my list of wishes!

Seaward )

Discworld )

Elenium/Tamuli series )

And then something in general. I like my fics as follows:
-Faithful to the characters and the feel of the world.
-With a liberal dose of humour, if you can manage it; if not, it's okay.
-Rather more fluffy than angsty, except if requested otherwise. Wistful is nice, sad is good, but plain angst without relief isn't exactly what I want to read for Yuletide.
-Romance is optional, I'm not averse to sex, but I'm not actually requesting any (well, maybe one). My squicks are: non-consensual sex, explicit violence in any form including mental, anything involving bodily secretions (I know people are supposed to go to bathroom even in fiction, but do I have to read about it?), and blood. Thus none of these in sexual or romantic connections, please.
-With a good story. Tell me a story and tell it well, and I'll return to it many times. A snippet of life is nice, too, if your plot bunnies escape. And if all you manage to whip up is PWP, you won't hear me complaining... XD

Most of all, dear Yuletide writer, I hope you have a good time writing. If you had fun writing, even if it isn't exactly what I requested, I'll be happy. I really am somewhat flexible on what I want to read, and as long as you take my little squicks into regard, I'll love it.

Ohh, the choices. I might give my body to scientific use, or artistic use, or both (http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/about-the-exhibition.html) or then I might want to play a bit with possible future archeologists. I might want to have my body buried in full Viking garb and paraphernalia into a site where it might theoretically be preserved for several centuries.

All this notwithstanding, cremation is always an option. Unfortunately the laws state all the ashes should be deposited in the same place (or scattered), otherwise I might want a pinch of me taken to all the places where I never went even though I wanted. Otherwise under a rowan tree would be just fine.

Well. Depends on several things. First, poisonous or not? If both were poisonous, I think I'd still choose snakes - snake venom seems to be quicker. If one species was poisonous and the other wasn't, I'd choose the non-poisonous one. Even if it was spiders. I might live with the horror. (Or might not.)

If both species were not venomous, then snakes without question. Constrictors might be a little iffy, depending whether they've been fed, their size, the temperature of the pit etc. But I'd still take my chances with the snakes, thankyouverymuch.

Oh, and one question would be, whether I'd be tossed in or could I just kind of wade in? Snakes bite easily if they're disturbed by a Gen-sized object dropping on them. Then again I might crush quite a lot of spiders dropping on them... scratch that, I hate the thought of having crushed spider all over me. XP But compared to living crawling spiders... Okay, they would have to toss me into a spider pit, I would prefer to walk into a snake pit. There. Happy now? =)

Something green and icky sweet - with a twist. Guava juice, lime and some green booze? I'm not good at fashioning new drinks, but I know people who are.

BTW, what would you put into a Pikku Gen drink? ;D (Looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] skinship...)
