It's Yuletide Again!
Oct. 15th, 2025 03:56 pmMy favorite exchange again, and here's my wishlist:
A Box Of Nothing - Peter Dickinson James, The Shopkeeper, The Burra, The Computer
A weird and lovely little book, and a world I'd love to see more of! Who is the shopkeeper of the Shop of Nothing? How did he get the box? Has he something to do with the dump or the Burra? And speaking of, please expand the Burra and the Dump for me a bit. All of the parts obviously have some kind of personality, as demonstrated by the Computer, so tell me something about them! Or if you would, tell me more of the Rats and the Seagulls or any of the other people of the Dump. How did their cultures and technologies develop in the strange Dump world, and what do the seagulls think of it all? Anything from the inside of the Dump or the new Burra-verse is welcome, these are just ideas.
Sadness Is A Blessing - Lykke Li Lykke Li's Character, Stellan Skarsgård's Character
I love this song and this video, and the setting is interesting. Why are these people in the restaurant? Is it a family occasion, and if so, what happened just before the story starts, why is everyone staring at Lykke Li's character? What is the relationship between the man and the girl (or for that matter, with anyone else in the video)? Tell me the story of anyone there, or tell me what happened just before, or what will happen afterwards, or whatever vibes you get from this story!
Irn Bru Snowman Ads The Boy, The Snowman, St Nick
This is a satirical series of ads, with more than a dollop of tourism on top of the soft drink, and it always makes me laugh. Do they catch St Nick before the Irn Bru is finished? What happens to the discarded carrot? Or the discarded plane? What do the skaters and the people at the hilltop think of this scene? (Is it a WTF??? or "Oh no, not again; they do this every year"...) If they do end up in Lapland/North Pole/wherever, how do they get back the drink (and do they keep fighting over it)? Or add your own twist to it!
Historical Farm Ruth Goodman, Alex Langlands, Peter Ginn
...I almost feel ashamed to ask this once more, I've received some wonderful stories about them already, but I could eat them up with a spoon. So tell me anything! An occurrence on any of their farms, a day in the life, any strange historical (or futuristic, let's not be constricted) farm you like, or any fantasy or otherwordly farm you wish to explore! I ship them as a threesome, you don't need to. Check the tags if you need more ideas.
Dinner For One James, Sophie, Toby, Winterbottom
I've requested this one before, check the tags. I'm curious about Sophie's and James's relationship, especially in the light of the last line. How many years has this been going on? Did James take someone's place, as he did for the toasting? (Everyone's place, one at the time? Whoooo.) Whose idea was it that he should pick the glass of the missing friend, and who was the first to go? Give me a story of the table company when it was still full, or just missing one, or whatever. (What happened/happens upstairs? Wink wink, nudge nudge.) Don't be afraid to keep them old, ot at least Not Young.
I love fluff, humor, adventures, stupid jokes, any rating from G to E, just take it easy on actual violence. Enthusiastic Opt-In for any nonconventional means of storytelling! Write me poetry, 1st and 2nd person POV, interactive fiction, nonlinear time, anything. Open to treats.
DNW: omegaverse, explicit gore, underage sex, scat or piss, onscreen torture, main character death.
